Mobile Game Analytics: Key Metrics Every Game Developer Must Track

Sep 16, 2026

You cannot improve what you do not measure. Integrating mobile analytics (such as Firebase Analytics, GameAnalytics, or Unity Analytics) provides crucial visibility into how players behave inside your game, where they drop off, and which levels cause player churn.

Key Metrics Explained

  • Day 1 (D1) Retention: The percentage of players who return to play your game exactly 1 day after installing. For casual games, aim for 35% to 45%+. If your D1 is below 25%, your onboarding or tutorial needs immediate attention.
  • Day 7 (D7) Retention: The percentage of players active on day 7. A healthy benchmark is 15% to 20%.
  • Average Revenue Per Daily Active User (ARPDAU): Total daily revenue divided by daily active users. Helps measure ad monetization effectiveness.
  • Lifetime Value (LTV): The total revenue an average player generates from install to churn. To run profitable paid marketing, your LTV must exceed your Cost Per Install (CPI).
